Biometric SIM registration booth to be installed at JS

Posts and Telecommunications Division will install biometric SIM registration booth at the Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban for the convenience of the Members of the Parliaments (MPs), reports BSS. “We’ve sent a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament seeking permission to install booth for biometric SIM registration,” state minister for posts and telecommunications Tarana Halim said. She said they want to set up the centre at the Jatiyo Sangsad Bahan so that MPs could complete the verification of their mobile connection using biometric system. The posts and telecommunications division (PSD) in December 16 launched biometric SIM registration campaign countrywide. “No one is beyond the law, so we want all people under the system for the welfare and security of the country,” said Tarana Halim. On November 15, all the mobile operators started the trial of the registration system at its customer care centers by installing biometric verification devices which are linked with the national identity card database of Election Commission (EC).
