RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has adopted an initiative of collecting information of the families who are residing in rented houses in the city for the sake of ensuring security to the city dwellers, reports BSS. To this end, the city corporation authority has sought all-out cooperation of all quarters. These were stated in the eighth general meeting of the corporation held at its conference hall here on Saturday with Nizam-Ul Azim, Mayor-in-Charge of RCC, in the chair.
Ward Councilors Anwarul Amin, Mustaque Hossain, Nuruzzaman Tito, Abdus Sobhan and Belal Ahmed and Chief Executive Officer Ajahar Ali, Secretary Syeda Zebinnissa Sultana, Executive Engineer Khairul Bashar and others concerned were present at the meeting
Mayor Azim said dynamism has been brought to every service delivery sectors including financial management and administrative activities. He put emphasis on increasing income and expenditure reduction.
Reviewing all its present development activities the meeting said the city corporation has intensified conservancy drives giving emphasis on the issue of improving the city's environmental condition.
Azim urged all officials and staffs concerned to remain alert so that the conservancy activities are functioned properly and smoothly for maintaining a healthy atmosphere.
Apart from this, he urged the city dwellers not to dump solid wastes into drains, open spaces and water bodies which cause environmental pollution and health hazards.
He told the meeting that the city corporation has established 14 secondary points in where the collected household wastes and garbage are being preserved before removal to the landfill.
Six more secondary transformer stations are being set up at a cost of Taka 6.25 crore. On completion of the construction works, there has a plan of setting up eight other points in future. Step has been taken to set up five more modern slaughter houses in addition to sanitary landfills.
