To celebrate the birth anniversary of late singer-lyricist-journalist Sanjeeb Choudhury, Dalchhut, in association with other bands, arranged a music festival at DUCSU Chattar on Dhaka University Campus on Friday.
The festival titled ‘The 4th Sanjeeb Utsab 2015’, started from 3pm, and featured the songs of Sanjeeb and continued till 9pm. Popular singers Bappa Majumder, Pritom Ahmed, Joy Shahriar, Parvej Sajjat, Riad Hasan, Sahas Mustafiz, among others performed at the festival to pay musical tribute to Sanjeeb.
Band groups Shohojia, Chitkar, Onuronon, Ghunpoka, Blackbird, Cycle among others also performed at the programme.
To pay musical tribute to Sanjeeb, a co-founder of Dalchhut, his band mates have been arranging musical programme in his memory since 2010. One of the organisers of the Sanjeeb festival, Joy Shahriar said, “The programme of this year has been successful like every year. Presence of Sanjeeb’s fans here proved that his memory is everlasting.”
Born in December 25 in 1964, Sanjeeb Choudhury was one of the main members of famous Bengali band Dalchhut with Bappa Mazumder. Sanjeeb wrote a number of songs, including ‘Rani Ghumay’, ‘Chokkhu Khule Dekho’ and ‘Hattimatimtim’. He was also a famous journalist and worked for the newspaper Ajker Kagoj, Bhorer Kagoj, and Jaijaidin. On November 19, 2007, he died of sudden illness.
