On the occasion of the 80th birth anniversary of veteran writer Syed Shamsul Haque, Syed Haque Udjapan Parishad has ogranised an elaborate programme titled ‘Syed Haque Joyonti’, today at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Theatre personalities Ramendu Majumder, Syed Hasan Imam, Mamunur Rashid, Nasiruddin Yusuf, Golam Kuddus and Dr. Mohammad Samad, among others will attend the programme as discussants. Presided over by theatre personality Ataur Rahman, presidium member of Syed Haque Udjapan Parishad Akhtaruzzaman will deliver the welcome speech.
After the discussion session, noted singer Khairul Anam Shakil and Aditi Mohsin will render songs while Warda Rihab will present a dance performance and Hasan Arif will recite poems.
Born in December 27 in 1935, Syed Shamsul Haque is one of the most profound litterateurs of the country. His poems are unpretentious and draw the readers easily. He writes poetry, fiction, plays (mostly in verse), and essays for Bengali literature. His literary works are included in the curriculum of school level, secondary, higher secondary and graduation level in the country.
The poet has been honoured with Bangla Academy Award, Adamjee Literary Award, Shadhinota Padak, Ekushey Padak, Padabali Kobita Award, Nasiruddin Gold Medal, National Poetry Award, Independent Day Award and more.
