Two abducted crews rescued

Laxmipur: Two crew of a cargo ship, who were abducted by a gang of sea robbers in the Meghna River near Tankir Bazar in Ramgati upazila on Friday, was rescued by police from Ramgati Bazaar area early yesterday, reports UNB. The rescued sailors were identified as Qamrul Islam, master of cargo ship ‘Beauty of Bhagyakul’ of Atharogachhia in Barguna, and the cargo employee Jasim Uddin, of Nohapara village in Lohagara upazila of Narail district.
Officer-in-charge of Ramgati police station M Iqbal Hossain said when the coal-laden cargo ship reached near Tankir Bazar in the river on its way to Chittagong from Dhaka on Friday morning, a gang of pirates swooped on the consignment and kidnapped Qamrul and Jasim.
