Three held over gang rape in Mymensingh

Three persons were arrested yesterday in connection with alleged murder of a woman after a gang-rape in Iswarganj upazila early yesterday. The arrestees are Jibon Miah, 28, Aladin, 20, and Milon Miah, 22, of Teluari village in the upazila. Police earlier recovered the body of Moyna Begum, 20, from a swamp at Madhupur in Iswarganj upazila on Thursday afternoon. Moyna, a divorcee and an inhabitant of Rampur village in Kendua upazila of Netrakona district, had been staying with her elder sister Parul at Golkunda village in Iswarganj. Local youths used to stalk her and make proposals to Moyna. After being refused, the youths allegedly led by Jibon Miah threatened Moyna to kidnap her, said police quoting Parul. Moyna went missing on Wednesday evening. Later, local people found the body in the swamp and informed the police. A scarf was wrapped around her neck, said Borhan Uddin, OC of Iswarganj police.
