Most polling centres risky in Jhenidah, Bhola

Most polling centres in Jhenidah and Bhola districts, where municipal elections will be held on December 30, are seen risky considering the law and order, infrastructural condition and political situation.
In Jhenidah, local administration  has declared all the polling centres risky. Superintendent of police office sources said the election would be held at 45 centres. Of them there are 15 centres in Shailkupa pouroshova, 9 in Harinakundo pouroshova, 12 in Kotchandpur pouroshova and 9 in Moheshpur pouroshova.
According to the reports of the law enforcing agencies, those centers have been considered as risk-prone on the basis of their infrastructural conditions, communication facilities, geographical, political and law and order situation.
District returning officer and deputy commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukdar said a list of the risky centers has already been sent to the assistant returning officers for taking necessary actions. He said there are 84,207 voters in four municipalities in Jhenidah, where the election will be held.
Special security measures, including deployment of additional forces have been taken to maintain law and order and hold peaceful election, police super (SP) Altaf Hossain said.
In Bhola, local administration has declared a total of 33 polling centres out of 36 risky in the three municipalities of Bhola district.
But the local officials said measures have been taken to ensure a free and fair municipal poll.
Electioneering has peaked before the election in three municipalities in the district before the December 30 polls.
A total of seven mayor candidates are now in poll race in the three municipalities. Police superintendent  Moniruz­zaman said a three-tier security measure has been taken to hold a a poll free and fair election.
He said eight police personal and 10 Ansar members will be deployed in each polling centre to main peace on the election day. Selim Reza, Deputy Commissioner of Bhola, said the
administration is committed to
hold municipal poll in free fair and impartial manner.
