President urges cadets to work for development

Sylhet: President Abdul Hamid yesterday urged cadet college students, both the present and the former ones, to utilise their knowledge, merit and competence for the country’s development, reports UNB.“Those who got the chance to study in cadet colleges, I think, are very lucky because many students, despite having interest and capacity, don’t get that chance for tough competitions,” he said while addressing the 7th reunion of Old Cadet Association of Sylhet (OCAS) on Sylhet Cadet College premise.
“This is why you’ve got the greater responsibility….the nation expects you to take the country to the golden peak utilising your knowledge, merit and competences,” the president told the function. He said the dream of the Father of the Nation was to turn the country into a golden Bengal and the government in view of that has adopted the ‘Vision 2021’ and ‘Vision 2041’ to implement it. “I hope you’ll play a role to that end.” Pointing at the teachers, he said “The teachers are the architect of building man. I believe the young cadets would be able to play positive role in your close touch of affection.” Principal of Sylhet Cadet College Commander Saifur Rahman and President of Old Cadet Association of Sylhet Shahnoor Alam also spoke on the occasion.
President Hamid also witnessed a display on the Liberation War participated by cadets. The president also cut a cake on the occasion. Earlier, President Abdul Hamid visited the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Hazrat Shahparan (R) here.
The president first visited the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) around 1.45 pm, offered fateha there and joined a munajat seeking divine blessings for the wellbeing of the countrymen and peace and prosperity of the country.
