Bangladesh Lighterage Workers' Union (BLWU), an associated of the lighterage vessel workers, withdrew their indefinite strike yesterday as the abducted master and steerman (locally known as Sukani) were rescued. The Sramik union went into indefinite strike on Friday demanding to rescue the master and steerman who were remain missing after an robbery incident at MV Beauty of Vaggukul lighterage vessel on Thursday night in Ramgoti area under Laxmipur district. “A gang of pirates swooped on a Chittagong-bound lighterage vessel when it reached Ramgoti area under Laxmipur district on Thursday night and a abducted master and steerman of the vessel,” said Shahadat Hossain, secretary of Bangladesh Lighterage Sramik Union.
