Miladunnabi observed

UNB

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), was observed in the country on Friday with due religious solemnity, reports UNB.  On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.  The day was a public holiday.  The Muslims across the country joined special prayers and staged street marches marking the day.  Various Islamic and socio-cultural organisations and political parties, mosques and madrasahs, including Islamic Foundation, observed the day with elaborate programmes, including milad mahfil, discussion and Qurankhwani.  A milad mahfil was arranged at Bangabhaban after Asr prayers.  President Abdul Hamid attended the Milad Mahfil held at the Darbar Hall of the Bangabhaban.
