Results for admission in class one published
The results of the lottery draw for admission of children in class one in 175 government schools were published yesterday. For the first time, a 40 per cent admission quota was reserved for children living in the catchment area of each school. Both the selection list and the waiting list of students were published at the same time. If the students from the selection list do not take admission, students from the waiting list will be drawn gradually, said sources. In the Dhaka metropolitan area, a total of 38 government schools were classified into three groups. A candidate could apply for only one school in each group. Though the government schools have published the results of admission into class one individually, the admission results of all classes will be centrally published on December 28, said Professor Fahima Khatun, director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE). Talking to the Independent, Headmaster of Tejgaon Govt High School Shahrin Khan Rupa said, The students who have been selected under the quotas like catchment area, freedom fighter and others will have to submit the relevant documents to the school authorities on Sunday. After that, we will verify these.
