�Sonai Madhab� at �Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab� in Kolkata

Loko Natyadal, one of the most vibrant theatre troupes in Bangladesh, is going to stage its much acclaimed play titled ‘Sonai Madhab’ at a theatre festival in Kolkata. The audience of Kolkata will enjoy the show of  ‘Sonai Madhab’ at a festival titled ‘Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab’ organised by Kolkata based theatre troupe Aneek. The play is scheduled to be staged at the Academy stage on December 27. Directed by Liakaut Ali Lucky, the production is based on a story from Mymensingh Geetika, a collection of traditional ballads. Music of the production was done by Mostafa Anwar Swapan. ‘Sonai Madhab’ weaves a tale of romantic tragedy between Sonai and Madhab, the leading characters in the play. The play is a dramatic depiction that weaves woes, agonies and dilemmas of women in a traditional narrative way. The cast of the play includes Roksana Akter Rupsa, Zahidul Kabir Liton, Liakaut Ali Lucky, Rahima Khatun Nila, Mamun Hossain, among others.
Since its inception in 1998, Aneek has been organising the international theatre festival titled ‘Ganga Jamuna Natya Utsab’, which involves theatre groups from West Bengal, rest of India and other countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, America and Germany.
Beginning on December 24, the festival will be concluded on December 31. In this regard, Loko Natyadal troupe consisting of 50 members, including Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Liakaut Ali Lucky left Dhaka recently.
