Jatiya Party (JP) yesterday alleged that their municipal polls candidates and supporters are facing obstruction and intimidation by the ruling Awami League leaders and activists during campaigns.
A JP delegation lodged the complaint to the chief election commission during a visit to the Election Commission (EC) yesterday.
“The JP is observing with grave concern that it has become difficult to hold a fair election. Ruling party men are intimidating our candidates and supporters,” JP standing committee member Syed Abu Hossain Babla told journalists after a meeting with the CEC at his office. “Our candidates are being harassed and attacked by the ruling party men. They are forcing our candidates to leave the election race,” he added.
