Prophet Muhammad, a blessing unto mankind

Today, Bangladesh, a country with a preponderantly Muslim population, is observing the birth day of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with due reverence. He was the last of the Prophets and fourteen centuries have elapsed since his transition from this mortal world. But in his short life time of only 63 years he accomplished the unmatched feat of transforming a very backward, superstitious and uncivilized people into spiritually and mentally refined human beings who adopted a code of living conduct the like of which the then world had never seen before. The code of life which he practised and taught his followers was based on the Holy Qur’an which was revealed to mankind by almighty Allah through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The Prophet united all of Arabia in his life time under his rule and the dictates of the Holy Qur’an were embraced by the Arabs wholeheartedly. The four Caliphs (rulers) who succeeded the Prophet in power carried the mission of the Prophet of Islam in much the same spirit and devotion. They established Islamic rule on the basis of the Holy Qur’an and the Hadith not only in Arabia but in adjacent countries or territories they conquered. But the conquest was mainly a spiritual and moral conquest that lifted hitherto decadent, pagan and unjust societies into an enlightened  Ummah inspired  by the monotheistic  belief  of one God or Creator.
Although the ruling system set up by Prophet Muhammad and the four Caliphs did not last long, it showed to the world for the first time what a model society should be like for mankind in all ages. That is why, renowned non Muslims but non partisan historians never failed to pay tribute to our Prophet as the greatest  among men in history.
