Films for month of December to be screened Saturday

‘Bangladesher Hridoy’, a documentary film directed by Saiful Wadud Helal, along with other 12 films, has been selected for screening for the month of December, as a part of the yearlong film festival titled ‘New Films, New Filmmakers’.
The film ‘Bangladesher Hridoy’ depicts the Shahbagh movement that had waged a campaign for ensuring capital punishment for war criminals of the country. The storyline of the documentary revolves around a 10-year-old boy who joins the movement denying his parents’ order to go to school.
As many as thirteen films in two categories, those have been selected from the total submissions for this month, will be screened on December 26 at the auditorium of National Art Plaza of BSA, Segun Bagicha in the city.
The yearlong festival is being jointly organised by Moviyana Film Society and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Led by noted filmmaker Syed Salauddin Zaki, a seven-member jury board selected the films among the submitted films from December 1 to 10.
The selected eight short films—‘Swapno’ directed by Rumu Islam, ‘Two-Ness’ by Javed Patwary, ‘Dead’s Circus’ by Faridyl Ahsan Sourav, ‘Colours of Clouds’ by Nahid Hasan, ‘Deyal’ by Sujon Bhattacharjee, ‘Chor’ (The Thief) by Sahjahan Shamim, ‘Somoy’ by Abu Nayeem Mahtab Morshed and ‘Er Por Bastobota’ by  S A Sadik will be screened at 3 pm, and the rest of the short films— ‘Opekkha’ by Sarwar Jahan Khan and ‘Tamsik Nisorga’ by Shamol Shishir will be screened at 7pm.
On the other hand, three documentary films—‘Ujan Jatra’ by Aratrik Bokshi, Adri Hridoyesh, and Sharif Reza Mahmud, ‘Islish Britanta’ by Polash Rosul, and ‘Bangladesher Hridoy’ will be screened at 5 pm at the same venue.
