Bappa & Friends� new album to be released today

Album to be dedicated to Sanjeeb Chy

On the occasion of the birthday of late singer Sanjeeb Chowdhury, popular music group Bappa & Friends will be releasing their first studio album titled ‘Benananda’. Bappa Mazumdar and Sanjeeb Chowdhury were members of the band Dolchut.
The launching of the album will take place today at a city restaurant where members of Bappa &Friends, along with the album’s production house and guests will be present.
Released under the banner of Girona Bangladesh, the album will consist of eight folk songs. There will be three of Lalon’s songs, ‘Jaat Gelo Jaat Gelo Bole’, ‘Khachar Bhitor Achin Pakhi’ and ‘Barir Pashe Arshi Nagar’. It will also feature three of Radharaman’s songs ‘Bonmali Tumi Por Jonome Houey Radha’, ‘Karo Dekhabo Moner Dukkhogo’ and ‘Shyam Kalia Shona Bondhure’. The other songs are Hason Raja’s ‘Agun Lagaiya Dilo Kone’ and Mon Mohon Dutta’s ‘Benananda’. The music arrangement of all the songs has been done by Bappa & Friends.
Regarding the release of the new album, Bappa Mazumdar said, “I have a fondness for folk songs even though I am identified with singing modern songs. I often perform folk songs as well. I believe that folk music brings about an artiste’s own identity. There was a desire to someday, if given the opportunity, release an entire album of folk music. The fact that the album is being released dedicating Sanjeeb Chowdhury is an amazing feeling.”
He added, “Since this is our first studio album, we had to put a lot of thought behind it. The special factor about this album is that all the songs have been played manually which gives newness to the sound. I hope the listeners appreciate it.”
