Speakers for building city free from corruption

There is no alternative to engaging sincere and comprehensive efforts of all stakeholders in turning Rangpur into a permanent peaceful city free from terrorism, corruption and drug abuse, reports UNB.
The views were expressed at a dissuasion arranged against drug abuse, terrorism and subversive activities by Ward No-28 unit of Community Policing at S R Hossain Memorial Govern Primacy School last evening, a release said.
District Community Policing Officer and Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Shushanto Sarker attended it as the chief guest with City Councilor (Ward No-28) and leader of City Community Policing Unit Idris Ali in the chair.
Member-secretary of the District Coordination Committee of Community Policing Shushanto Bhowmick, Female City Councilor Farida Kalam from reserved wards and President of Sadar upazila unit of Community Policing Committee Abdul Wahab Mian attended the function as special guests.
Public representatives, members of the local community policing committees, police officials, civil society members, community leaders, teachers, students, youths, socio-cultural, women and professional activists and elite were present.
Narrating the grievous impacts of terrorism, anarchy, subversive activities, drug abuse and addiction, the speakers called for raising awareness among the people for building a peaceful society.
They expressed concern over increasing use of drugs and narcotics substances and said drug abuse has created formidable threat and severe barrier to normal growth and flourishing talent of the young generations.
The chief guest sought police-people cooperation to reduce crimes for ensuring sustainable peace in the society.
Community Policing Officer of Kotwali Thana Sub-inspector Muhibbul Islam moderated the discussion meeting followed by a musical soiree.
