BNP-backed mayoral candidate hacked

Dinajpur: A BNP-backed mayoral candidate of Birampur municipality was injured as some unidentified criminals hacked him at Ansar Math in Birampur upazila on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
The injured mayor aspirant has been identified as Azadul Islam, also incumbent mayor of the municipality.
Officer-in-charge of Birampur police station M Amiruzzaman said some hoodlums swooped on the BNP-mayoral candidate Azad when he was returning home after electioneering at around 11pm. They hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him injured, the OC added. Later, he was whisked off to Birampur Upazila Health Complex.
