Sale of warm clothes picks up in dists

Sale of worm clothes has picked up at road side makeshift shops and different hawker markets in Jessore and Noakhali districts as the mercury has plummeted in the region intensifying the wintry chill over the last few days .
In Jessore, people, particularly from low and fixed income groups are crowding the make shift shops to buy warm clothes.Warm clothes like sweaters, jackets, cardigans, woolen caps and mufflers are in demand. But second hand, and rejected warm clothes are cheap and being sold in  great number compared with new ones.
The used clothes are in high demand, as the poor can not afford to buy’ said Abdul Latif who runs a road side shop near the town hall market in the district town.
Poor and fixed income groups people including day laborers, rickshaw-pullers and employees of different government and private organizations are his customers, he added
Abdur Rahim Molla a farm laborer whoclives in a make shift house on the  river side of Jhikorgacha upazila, said we have been facing extremely bitter cold for the last few days. So, I came to the town to by some second hand warm clothes for my family members.
Noor Mohammad which selling second hand warm cloth like jeans jackets , woolen blazers and sweaters at the old cloth market in Jessore Institute claimed many well –off people were also buying winter clothes from this market. Demand for different varieties of shawls and woolen blankets is also high this year.
In Noakhali, people have not seen sunlight during the last two days as temperature is dipping everyday.
The cold wave has paralysed the normal life from Friday morning. Sale of warm clothes at two big towns in Chowmohani commercial hub and Maijdee court makeshift shops has geared up. Char people are thronging on these shops as they get it at cheap rate. Shopkeepers however said prices of warm clothes vary depending on the quality.  Maijdee court, Maijdee Bazar, Shahid Minar ground, town hall and Sonapur areas are famous for selling warm clothes. Besides, Huge crowd is seen at Chowmohani, Karimpur, Baro Pole  area, hawkers market and station road.
