The bulk of the national players start working hard to get back to their rhythm and form through individual practice ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC Twenty20 World 2016.
Some of those, who were dropped from the national team due to their injuries and poor form, have also been practicing to make themselves fit for games. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed amongst the unfortunate players who had missed to play two home series for the national team because of his injury.
Taskin performed in the recently concluded BPL after recovering from his injury but he is not happy over his performance in the T20 tournament. He said that he is working hard eyeing to play in the upcoming World Twenty20.
“I’m hopeful about playing in the upcoming World T20. BPL is not the only index to judge a player. If you look at my record in international cricket, that has been better. I’m the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup. I did well in the last few series though I missed two series due to my injury,” said Taskin Ahmed.
“I played in BPL after recovering from injury. However, there was no proper rhythm in my bowling action. Rubel bhai, who also came from injury, had no rhythm in the initial stage. Like him, my bowling performance has been better at the fag end of the tournament. But there is no benefit to think much about it. That’s not the end of life. Allah gives me much ability. I believe I could do well more if I could work hard,” Taksin told reporters yesterday.
“I dream of course to play in the next World Twenty20. I’ll try my best to make room in the national team again,” he added.
The young pacer said that he starts doing his bowling practice to amend his mistakes so that he could get back his real bowling strength.
“I’m not satisfied with my performance because I could not deliver fifty percent of it despite being my capability. I bowl much better than it. I think I had a bit of lacking in bowling. It may be that I didn’t get enough chance to have practice like others before BPL. I had to play the tournament after recuperating from injury. I could not do well in some matches of the initial stage. I could not do what I wish,” said the 22-year-old quickie reckoned.
“But I really bowled well in the last four matches but that’s the end of our tournament. Now I’m practicing to amend these errors. I’m doing my bowling practice though the rest bank on selectors and coach. To justify my skills I’ll play a practice match against Under-19,” Ahmed said.
“All the pace bowlers are now doing well. Now the competition is more in the team. It is better for the team. The progress in Bangladesh cricket will then be done. Players have to increase their level of hard works to survive in the competition. Then all the players will seek to improve their capability what they possess. We should keep in our mind that there will be no scope for relax. The place in the team is not permanent for anybody. It’s very good for cricket.
He said that he will do his own work to give hundred percent for the team but the rest work will rely on selectors and coach.
