Bangladesh squad for ICC World T20 announced

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup, to be held in Bangladesh from January 27.
Mehidy Hassan Miraz will lead the side while Nazmul Hossain Shanto will be his deputy in the event in which Bangladesh are expected to eclipse the previous result. Bangladesh’s best result in this meet came in 2006 in Sri Lanka when they finished in fifth.
Last time in 2004 when Bangladesh hosted the tournament for the first time, Bangladesh finished as ninth.
“Our preparation has been good and since the tournament will be held at our home soil, we are expecting a good result,” said captain Miraz.
Bangladesh have been drawn in Group A alongside the reigning champions South Africa and two associate nations- Namibia and Scotland.
Bangladesh have lately beat South Africa in both home and away bilateral series. While their performance in the multinational tournament has not been good, they came up with their best in the bilateral series, beating some top nations regularly.
 “Our track record in bilateral series has been good. Hopefully we’ll carry it forward to the multinational tournament,” Miraz added.
