Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta yesterday called upon BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to submit paper-evidence in support of her recent remarks relating to the total number of martyrs in the country’s war of liberation.
“If Begum Khaleda Zia fails to submit papers and evidences in support of her remarks, she should have to accept the nationally and internationally settled matter in regard to the total number of martyrs in the War of Liberation seeking apology to the nation in public,” he said.
Suranjit Sengupta, a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League (AL), said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on current affairs organised by Bangabandhu Academy at the auditorium of the Diploma Engineers Institution at Kakrail in the city.
Adviser of Bangabandhu Academy Khondokar Imdadul Haque Selim presided over the discussion, addressed among others by Dhaka City Awami League vice-president Faezuddin Miah, cultural affairs secretary Salah Uddin Badal, Samyabadi Dal central leader Haroon Chowdhury and Bangabandhu Academy secretary general Humayun Kabir Mizi. The discussion was arranged to pay homage to the illustrious leader Abdur Razzak, who died on this day four years ago.
