Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of RUET unit, Saifuzzaman Sohag, was found in Chittagong yesterday, 14 days after his family alleged that some men identifying themselves as law enforcers picked him up. Sohag’s father-in-law Abdur Rahman Dulal said local people in Mirsarai area of the port city found Sohag abandoned there blindfolded and informed the BCL leader’s family members in Rajshahi.
He added that they rushed to Chittagong after being informed about Sohag and brought him back.
However, police claimed that Sohag was found based on the information they derived from two people arrested in a case filed after the BCL leader went missing.
The two were arrested from Rajshahi and Narayanganj for their alleged involvement in Sohag’s going missing. Later, they were placed on a three-day remand each.
Sohag, a mechanical engineering student at RUET (Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology), was allegedly picked up from his home in the city’s Rajparha area on December 10. He is the information and research secretary of the BCL’s RUET unit.
