At least eight people were killed in separate road accidents in three districts yesterday. Of the victims, five were killed in Pabna road crash, two in Keraniganj and one in Noakhali districts, reports agencies. In Pabna, five people were killed and 30 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus at Tinkhara Bazar in Sujanagar upazila yesterday afternoon. Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Police said a Dhaka-bound bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the area at about 12:30 pm, leaving five people dead on the spot and 30 others injured. The injured were taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital.
Additional superintendent of police Liton Kumar Saha confirmed the incident.
In Keraniganj, a CNG-run auto rickshaw driver and an unidentified boy were killed and three injured in a collision between a oil-laden lorry and the auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Mawa highway in Hasnabad area of Dakhshin Keraniganj upazila on Monday morning.
The auto-rickshaw driver was identified as Jewel, 40, a resident of Bara area of Dohar upazila. Aminul Islam, sub-inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station, said the accident took place on the highway around 11:20am, leaving the duo dead on the spot and three other injured.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In Noakhali, a minor boy was killed in a road accident at Munshir Rastar Matha under Chatkhil upazila of the district yesterday noon.
The victim was Siam, 6, son of Md Mizanur Rahman of Paschim Sundalpur village under Chatkhil upazila.
