BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday said her party now will defeat the government through elections, not by any movement, reports UNB.
“The country is now in a deep crisis and conspiracy. To save the country, now we’ll have to defeat this regime through polls, not by any movement,” she said.
The BNP chief came up with the remarks while exchanging greetings with members of the Christian community, marking the Christmas.
Christian Association arranged the programme at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.
At the beginning of the programme, the BNP chief cut a cake, celebrating the Christmas, greeted the community on the occasion and wished them happiness and welfare in the coming year.
The Christian community of the country, as elsewhere across the world, will celebrate Christmas on Friday (Dec 25), commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Mentioning that the municipality polls are going to be held along party line for the first time, Khaleda urged the Christian community to cast their votes in favour of her party’s candidates.
Khaleda alleged that the ruling party men have now turned ferocious as they are indulging in various criminal and illegal activities.
The BNP chief alleged that the government has resorted repressive acts and wholesale arrest and enforced disappearances to subdue opposition.
Khaleda also alleged that the government has politicised the administration, the police and even the judiciary. “No one now gets justice.”
She urged the Christian Community to pray to Jesus Christ on the Christmas to save the country from the grasp of the current ‘repressive and killer regime’.
