RANGPUR: The students of Abhiram Government Primary School along with their teachers and guardians at a rally here today vowed for preventing child marriage, school dropouts, dowry and other cursed from the society, reports BSS. They made the vow at a rally and oath-taking event on ‘Increasing Awareness of Guardians & Local People in Preventing Child Marriage and School Dropouts’ organised by ‘Pollishree’, an NGO, in the school premises.
The NGO organised the event with the assistance of Oxfam and ‘Aram Adhikar’ (My Rights) in association with School Managing Committee (SMC) of the school. Hundreds of the students, teachers, guardians, parents, SMC members, civil society members, professionals, local public representatives, religious leaders, marriage registrars and elite took part in the rally that paraded the roads of the area. Later, Chairman of SMC Abul Kalam Azad attended and addressed the post-rally discussion as the chief guest with Headmistress of the school Mrs. Rahima Begum in the chair.
Noted social worker of the area Amal Chandra Sarker attended as the special guest in the programmes coordinated by Communication and Advocacy Officer of ‘Pollishree’ Rezaul Karim Reza.
After taking part in the rally, the primary school students took oath for awareness among the guardians and local people about the negative impacts of child marriage, dowry and repression to resist these social curses for building a better society.
