More than a hundred farmers living at four hamlets on the outskirts of Rangamati town are cultivating mushroom commercially as it has proved profitable for them, reports BSS. Rangamati Mushroom Centre (RMC) is providing necessary support for the farmers in the village to boost mushroom production in the district. Training Officer Taufiqur Rahman of Rangamati DAE said, "We are imparting training to farmers on how to cultivate the vegetable properly in their homesteads." Additional Director of Rangamati region of Directorate of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Harunur Rashid said apart from supply of necessary materials, they are assuring the farmers of marketing facilities to dispose of their products timely. The RMC has provided training for about 1,400 farmers in the district. Basically, two species of mushroom are being cultivated in RMC supported villages.
