Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the students to keep the spirit of War of Liberation always in heart to make their marks for the welfare of the country, reports BSS. He was addressing a function on “IBA Graduation-2015” organised by the university’s Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at a city convention centre yesterday. Prof Siddique said the Dhaka University scraped ties with Pakistan on Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14 this year protesting Islamabad’s recent “audacious” reactions following execution of two major 1971 war crimes convicts. The vice-chancellor said the meaning of remaining silent, after Pakistan’s recent denial of involvement of its armed forces in perpetrating genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, is admitting the falsehood. “In 1971 many of the assassinated intelligentsias were senior teachers of Dhaka University and majority of them were massacred at the fag end of the Liberation War visibly under a blueprint with a motive to expose the newborn nation to a state of brainlessness,” he added.
Prof Siddique said from now no delegation of students or teachers of Dhaka University will go in Pakistan and all academic and research activities with Pakistani universities will remain postponed until Islamabad will apologise for its 1971 atrocities. Summit Group chairman Mohammad Aziz Khan delivered speech as graduation speaker with IBA Director Professor AKM Saiful Majid in the chair. Five IBA students were awarded gold medals for their brilliant results in BBA, MBA and EMBA courses.
