Work of five drainage systems launched

RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu here yesterday launched construction of five drainage systems in different areas of the city, reports BSS. The mayor inaugurated the construction works at a ceremony arranged in Mahiganj Kitchen Bazar area under Ward No-29 in the city as the chief guest with City Councilor Muktar Hossain in the chair. Female City Councilor Farida Kalam from reserved wards, local elite Alhaj Muktar Ahmmed Molla, Lokman Hossain mullah and Director of Rangpur Chamber Ram Krishna Somani, attended the ceremony as the special guests. The city corporation has been implementing construction works of the drainage systems under the City Governance Project at Taka 4.85 crore with financial assistance of the Government of Bangladesh and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) has been extending assistance to RCC authority in implementing the construction works as the Executing Agency.
