Girl abducted in Sylhet

A young girl was allegedly abducted by some miscreants from Bandarbazar in Sylhet city on Saturday. The identity of the victim could not be known yet. Witnesses said a group of miscreants forcibly picked up the girl into a microbus from in front of Leading University at the city’s Bandarbazar Rangmahal point around 4pm. Assistant Commissioner of Police Nurul Huda Ansari confirmed the incident saying police are investigating the incident.

610 bottles of phensidyl seized  
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 610 bottles of Indian phensidyl syrup from Padmar Char in Charghat upazila of the district on Saturday, reports BSS. Nayek Subedar Rezaul Karim of Mirganj BOP of BGB-1 said tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in Padmar Chat area at noon. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the smugglers fled the scene leaving 610 bottles of phensidyl. Later, they recovered those from the area. However, no one was arrested in this connection.

Youth crushed under train

A young man was crushed to death under the wheels of a running train at Mahakhali level crossing in the capital on Saturday midnight. The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin ,35, a resident of Char Sholakila in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola district. He used to live in Ansar Camp of the city’s Mirpur area. Contacted, operation officer of Kamalapur Government Railway Police
Station Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam said a train hit Jasim at about 10:50pm in the area, leaving him seriously injured. Jasim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at about 12:00 am.
