Resolving cross-border issues

Left leaders call for steps by Modi

Leaders of left-leaning political parties yesterday stressed resolving the cross-border issues, terrorism, fundamentalism, militancy, communalism and security issues through working together for establishing peaceful Bangladesh and peaceful India as a whole the region, reports UNB.
The leaders included Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon and its leader Fazle Hossain Badsha, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) executive president Mainuddin Khan Badal made the observations when they met visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hotel Sonargaon.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Hasanul Haq Inu said the cross-border issues, terrorism, militancy, fundamentalism, security issues, militancy and communalism are the common problems of both Bangladesh, India and also for the region.
Apparently indicating at the Teesta water-sharing deal, Inu said water is both human and development matter and they have put emphasis on resolving it through working together. The Indian Prime Minister has also emphasised the same thing, Inu added.
Inu, also the Information Minister, said if all could face and resolve the existing problems together then it would be possible to address poverty and resolve the problem. “All the problems should have to be addressed jointly through discussions.”
Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon hoped the problems with the water sharing of Teesta and Feni Rivers would be resolved. “We hope the aspirations of the country’s people would soon be fulfilled.”
Citing the success of the present government through the recent ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) in both houses of Indian parliament, Menon said both the countries are hopeful of resolving the water-sharing problem together.
