The 44th Victory Day was observed by all Bangladeshi missions abroad on Wednesday with due respect and festivity.
The programmes chalked out by different missions included special prayers for the departed souls of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders and the valiant freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifice for the independence of Bangladesh and peace and prosperity of nation, discussions and cultural functions, said a foreign ministry press release yesterday quoting messages received from abroad.
Messages of the president, prime minister, foreign minister and the state minister for foreign affairs were also read out at the programmes.
In many places, receptions with homemade Bangladeshi foods were also organised.
A good number expatriate Bangladeshis took part in these celebrations.
