NARAYANGANJ: A devastating fire burnt down more than 100 shanties in Chanmari slum adjacent to the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road in the district town on Wednesday night, reports UNB. According to residents of the slum, the fire originated from a jute warehouse around 8:30am and it soon burnt down more than 100 shanties in the area. On information, four fire fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one and a half hours of frantic efforts. At least 30 people were injured in fire panic. Vehicular movement on the road came to a halt for one and a half hours following the incident.
