Teach students about country, president asks universities

President Abdul Hamid yesterday urged both the public and private universities to take steps so that students could have adequate knowledge about the country’s culture, history and tradition, especially the undistorted Liberation War history, reports UNB. The president made the call when a five-member delegation of North South University (NSU), led by the chairman of its board of trustees MA Kashem, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban. During the meeting, the delegation apprised the president of the academic activities of the university and said it has taken an initiative to exchange academic activities with three universities of the United States, president’s press secretary Joynal Abedin said.
They also said the university authorities have taken steps to build residential hall for its students.
They invited the president, also the chancellor of the university, to preside over its 19th convocation.
Abdul Hamid laid emphasis on research-oriented academic activities in the universities. Secretaries concerned to the president were present.
