Satkhira: One Jamaat and two Jamaat-Shirbir activists were arrested from various places in Satkhira and Joypurhat districts during the 24 hours drives. Joint force’s teams in separate drives from Wednesday night to early yesterday arrested 20 people, including one Jamaat activist, from different areas in the district on various charges, reports UNB. Enamul Haque, sub-inspector of Satkhira police station, said a team compri-sing members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangla-desh conducted the drive in seven upazilas of the district and arrested the 20 people, including one of Jamaat. Police sources said the Jamaat man was arrested on sabotage charges. Among the arrestees, 12 people were from Sadar, two from Kalaroa, one from Kaliganj, two from Asha-shuni, one from Deb-hata, one from Patkel-ghata and one from Shymnagar upazila. In Joypurhat, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested two leaders of Islami Chhatra Shibir district unitalong with two revolvers, 21 crude bombs and six hand bombs from Kadamtali area of Panchbibi upazila early yesterday. The arrestees were identified as district Shibir president Abu Zar Gifari and secretary Omar Ali. Rab sources said a team of the elite force conducted the drive in the area in the early morning and arrested the duo in possession of the firearms and bombs.
