Victory Day celebrated in Brazil
Bangladesh Embassy in Brasilia organised a programme to celebrate the 45th Victory Day on Wednesday. The day long programmes at the embassy began with the hoisting of the national flag by the Charge De Affaires at the Chancery, according to a message received in the capital yesterday.
A discussion session marking the Victory Day was held in the evening, where a number of expatriate Bangladeshis attended. Separate messages issued by the president, the prime minister, the foreign minister and the state minister of foreign affairs on the occasion of the Victory Day, were read out. A paper was presented by expatriate journalist Anash Pasha on significance of celebrating Victory Day by Embassies of Bangladesh, the message added.
The CDA Nahida Rahman Shumona read out Ambassadors written message on Victory Day as the ambassador was travelling due to official business. The Ambassasdors message was also read out in Portuguese by Felipe Tomasi. The message from Ambassador included a short history of Bangladeshs War of Liberation, the brutal atrocities inflicted on unarmed people by the Pakistani forces and collaborators and the success story that Bangladesh is now. The session included patriotic song rendered by an expatriate Bangladeshi origin child Master Nahiyan Pasha. Shariful Islam, administrative officer of the Embassy, was the master of ceremony. The programme ended with the observance of one minutes silence in memory of the martyrs of the Liberation War.
