Stocks slightly up

Stock market closed yesterday slightly positive after breaking the support zone during the week on dull trade, reports BSS.
The DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the week marginally up at 4520.87, but it broke the higher support zone to fall below 4600 points mark. Similarly, the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES were also in downtrend during the week before settled at 1719.74 and 1090.59 respectively.
The major reason of the fall in the indices was lackluster trade, which also caused decline in the average daily turnover. The average trade value at the end of the week was down by 30.0 per cent to Tk 305 crore when the average trade volume was 31.20 per cent down at 7.69 crore shares.
Most of the large cap securities declined during the
week. Among those shares, Lafarge Surma was down by 7.6 per cent, Titas Gas by 7.3 per cent, ICB by 4.6 and BATBC by 5.8 per cent.
Among the major gaining sectors mutual fund gained by 0.20 per cent followed by bank (0.11 per cent), pharmaceuticals (0.44 per cent) and telecom (0.71 per cent).
The major losing sectors were cement and food allied with 5.20 per cent and 4.61 per cent loss respectively when the top gaining companies were Quasem Drycell (20.4 per cent), BD Lamps (13.7 per cent) and Samata Leather (12.9 per cent).
The week's major losing scrips were Emerald Oil (6.5 per cent), Desh Garment (6.9 per cent) and 5th ICB (7.1 per cent).
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed week lower yesterday, the major CSCX index finishing down at 8399.16.
