In a pitch where 161 was considered as tough target, Sabbir Rahman Rumman made it a cake-walk. His majestic 49 ball-79 was a sight to behold, as he dispatched the bowlers with sustained aggression. He struck seven fours, some of which beautifully carved past the inner circle, giving the fielders no chance to chase it. He smashed three more sixes in, all of which were the testament of his big-hitting prowess.
It was needed a ‘catch of the tournament’ to stop him. Otherwise he played like no bowlers could dismiss him. Why a big-hitter like his stature couldn’t get runs, was the relentless question in this BPL. But it came at the crucial moment when Barisal Bulls needed someone to step in the big game against Rangpur Riders. There was no Chris Gayle ahead of the clash to go through the final. Gayle’s absence was a blow to huge extent but Sabbir’s onslaught made Gayle forgettable.
