Share prices declined for the 6th straight session, with all the market indicators closing down despite daily trade showing some recovery trend, reports BSS.
The market opened week down on Sunday amid lackluster trade and the falling trend continued yesterday at the countries twin stock exchanges.
Investors were skeptical about near term stability, and resultantly majority of the issues traded incurred loss on lower demand.
Out of the day's 313 issues traded, 81 gained when 185 incurred loss. The loss across the board, however, could not drove the boarder index down to much extent as transaction was limited.
The DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) lost only 8.80 points to finish at 4533.91.
The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES were also marginally down at 1724.74 and 1094.63 accordingly.
The daily trade value rose by 22.18 per cent to Tk 334.95 crore from Sunday's Tk 274 crore when the trade volume also increased by 17.35 per cent to 8.30 crore shares from 7.08 crore shares of the previous session.
All the major sectors including cement, engineering, fuel and power, food and allied and NBFI decreased when bank, pharma and mutual fund went up.
The day's major gaining issues were Global Insurance, Desh Garment, Apex Spinning, ICBAMCL 2nd and Renwick. The major lagging securities included BIFC, Hakkani Pulp, Shine Pukur, GQ Ball Pen and Eastern Insurance. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed yesterday lower, with the major CSCX index falling over 37 points at 8410.97. The trade value increased to Tk 24.95 crore when the volume rose to 86 lakh shares.
Like Sunday, most of the issues traded closed lower on the day, with 160 issues declining, 50 finishing higher and 27 remaining static.
