The immigration authorities yesterday sent back Pakistani national Asma Khalid, a senior joint director of State Bank of Pakistan, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after she landed in Dhaka on Sunday night.
Special Superintendent (SS) of Immigration Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Mahbubur Rahman told this correspondent that she landed on Sunday night by a Qatar Airways flight (QR 636), but she had no Bangladeshi visa.
“There is no agreement with Pakistani to provide on arrival visa for their nationals at the airport. That’s why we did not allow her to enter the country,” he said. He said that the State Bank of Pakistan official came to Dhaka to attend a seminar of Bangladesh Bank that began yesterday.
Asma Khalid went back to her country by a fight of the Pakistani International Airlines at 1.40 am yesterday, added Mahbubur Rahman.
Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Julhash Uddin confirmed that they had invited Asma Khalid to attend a two-day long seminar in the capital, “But, the immigration authorities prevented her from entering as she did not hold a Bangladeshi visa,” he said.
