Shivering cold and dense fog in Jehnidah and Panchgarh districts have paralysed the normal life and disrupted road communication over the past several days.
Most of the people have kept indoors. Vehicles are plying on the road with head light on.
In Panchagarh, a cold wave is sweeping across this northern district paralysing normal life of the people. Surroundings remain enveloped by dense fog until the ray of sun pierce through the mist at midday.
People are seen cuddling together around fire. Day labourers are the worst sufferers as they cannot go out in shivering cold for earning their livelihood.
In Jhenidah, a persisting cold wave has battered the life of the people while dense fog has made the visibility very poor disrupting movement of vehicles on the road.
Jhenidah road transport authority said buses are moving out late from the terminal due to fog. According to department of agricultural extension (DAE) in Jhenidah, farmers of vegetable, a perishable item, are facing problem in transportation due to persisting fog.
The average temperature in the past seven days is 20 to 23 degree Celsius in Jhenidah.
Farmer Hasmat Ali of Chutlia village in sadar upazila said they are finding it difficult to transport Cauliflower, which they have produced in plenty, in schedule to Dhaka. As s result we have to pay huge loss but nothing to do.
Bus drivers said poor visibility has affected bus services. They have been forced to delay movement due to poor visibility.
