RANGPUR: There is no alternative to creating adequate awareness among the young students, guardians and parents about the severe consequences of drug abuse and drug addition to save the young generations from ruining their future, reports BSS. The opinion came at a seminar jointly organised by ‘Rangpur Cantonment Public School & College’ and ‘The Millennium Stars School & College’ on ‘The Evils of Drug Abuse, Remedies and Our Role’ here on Sunday.
Colonel Admin of Rangpur Area Headquarters and Member of the Governing Body of Rangpur Cantonment Public School & College Colonel Neyamul Islam Fatemi, Bir Pratik, took part in the seminar as the main discussant. Principal of Rangpur Cantonment Public School & College Colonel Nurul Huda, Civil Surgeon of Rangpur Dr Mozammel Hossain, Deputy Managing Director of Rangpur Group Ashraful Al Amin, Chairman of Prime Medical College and Hospital Dr Shahina Begum, addressed, among others.
Students and teachers of the two reputed educational institutions, guardians, parents, activists of different sociocultural and volunteer organisations, civil society members and local elite participated in the seminar. Taking part in the open discussion, the speakers put importance on sensitising the young generations and parents about the catastrophic consequences of generation-killer drug aggression through launching a decisive social movement against drug abuse. Narrating the grievous impacts of drug abuse and addiction among the younger generations, they put maximum emphasis on creating adequate awareness among the common people against drug addiction for building a drug-free society.
Expressing severe concern over the spread of drug abuse, they called for saving the youths from drug addiction as the menace has already created a formidable threat and barrier to normal growth and flourishing talent of the young generations.
