With the slogan ‘The children will create a new world’, the third session of a cartoon festival titled ‘International Animation Cartoon Festival’ will commence tomorrow at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of the Central Public Library at Shahbag in the capital .
Children Communication Bangladesh (CCB) has organised the festival in association with Ifad Multi Food Products Limited, which is open for the children.
A press conference was held at VIP auditorium of the National Press Club on Wednesday where Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest. Popular cartoonist Ahsan Habib, managing director of Ifad Multi-food Products Limited Tanvir Ahmed, CCB adviser and chairman of the festival committee Sayeed Milky and CCB executive director Saima Akhter Rini were present, among others.
At the press conference, Asaduzzaman Noor said, “In the country, animation cartoon is a popular medium for the children as it draws attention very quickly. But making the animation is very expensive and we are not capable to bear the cost right now. Many personnel are trying their level best for the survival of the artistic media with the personal efforts.”
Later, the minister inaugurated a colourful truck march carrying popular cartoon characters like Mina, Raju, Mithu and Eggy , marking the festival.
This year, a total of 17 animation children cartoon films of 10 countries, including Bangladesh, will be screened at the festival, which will remain open for children from 10am-9pm.
Around 22 primary schools, 45 secondary schools, 20 NGO schools, 12 children’s organisations and 80 children representatives from different schools have been invited at the 3rd International Animation Cartoon Festival.
Director of the festival Rabiul Islam Rony said, “The festival is bringing a great opportunity for the children to have fun with interesting things such as colourful posters, stickers, festoon, T-shirts and caps. An animation cartoon logo film has already been made, marking the festival.”
“Besides, on December 15, a closing ceremony will be held, where the selective cartoonists will be awarded with crests, certificates and awards”, he added.
