An accused, who was remanded in a case filed over trafficking of women for prostitution, escaped police custody from Pallabi Police Station in the capital on Thursday night.
A sub-inspector, who is also the investigation officer of the case, was temporarily suspended for his negligence in duty over the incident.
Talking to The Independent over phone, Inspector Dadon Fakir Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, said the accused -Atikur Rahman Surjo- escaped from police custody when SI Jillur Rahman Khan went to washroom around 8:15pm.
The fugitive is accused of human trafficking and was placed on a three-day remand on Thursday afternoon, the OC added.
