Prime Minister's ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy today called for forging a national unity of pro-liberation forces through upholding the "Joy Bangla" slogan for a developed Bangladesh, reports BSS.
"All pro-liberation forces have to be united forgetting any internal division... It is very argent and necessary to form a national unity with the spirit of the War of Liberation to continue the ongoing development process in the country," he told a programme of "Jatiya Oikyer Dak (call for national unity) at Hotel Sonargaon here.
Rejecting any consensus with anti-liberation forces and their allies Joy said, "It is not possible to reach any consensus with those who opposed our independence during the War of Liberation in 1971."
"I am categorically speaking that Awami League will never reach any consensus with rajakar, al-shams and albador as they committed heinous crimes including killings and raping during the War of Liberation. So, we cannot sit with them."
"Members of the civil society are vocal to forge a national unity. But is not clear what sorts of national unity they want," he said adding, "Intention of our civil society to form a national unity is politically motivated."
