Stalkers allegedly strangled to death the father of a girl early yesterday in Muktagacha upazila here as he protested stalking on his school going girl. The victim was identified as Md Aynuddin, 45, a day labourer of Syedpara area in Muktagacha municipality.
Family members and local people alleged, tea stall worker Katu Miah, 26, of the same area along with his accomplices—Dipu, Ashu, Taher, Rakib and Lal Miah allegedly used to tease Aynuddin’s daughter, a class five student at a local school for long.
Aynuddin protested the stalking on various occasions but Katu and his associates did not pay any heed and also became very angry threatening Aynuddin and his family members to teach a good lesson, police local people informed. When Aynuddin, along with his wife and daughter were returning home from one of their relative’s house at nearby Kutubpur village Thursday afternoon,

Being afraid, Aynuddin returned to his relative’s house for security concerns. When Aynuddin was returning home alone around 2 am yesterday, Katu and his gang members held Aynuddin at Syedpara and might have strangled him using a rope, suspected Monu.
Later, thecriminals left the body at the same area, sources said. Local people found the body of Aynuddin around 9 am yesterday and informed police.
Police recovered the body bearing injury marks at its neck and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) morgue for autopsy, said Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Station. “Without autopsy report, we are yet to be confirmed whether it is a suicidal case or murder”, the OC said.
Contacted, Jahangir Alam, local ward commissioner said, he also visited the spot and found Aynuddin’s body lying beside the road and the rope used in the murder was also beside the body.
There were discussions in the area about the stalking for last couple of months and I also asked both the parties to settle the dispute, said Jahangir demanding “immediate arrest of the killers to bring them to book”.
