Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested three suspected members of an international human trafficking gang from different areas of the capital on Thursday night. The arrestees were Krishna Gopal Dey, Al Azad and Firoz.
Mirza Abdullahel Baqui, Special Superintendent of Police (Organised Crime), at a press briefing at CID headquarters, said Azad was detained from Banani DOHS area, Firoz from Uttara and Krishna from Tatnti Bazar area for their alleged involvement in human trafficking.
He added they also seized Tk 15 lakh from Krishna's possession. Abdullahel Baqui also said five months ago, an Australian named John had come to the country and posted an advertisement on Bikroy.com to recruit people for his chain shops.
He took three jobseekers to Indonesia giving fake assurance of job in Australia. Later, he took them hostage and released them after taking ransom.
