Kudos to Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan for their pledge of giving 99 per cent of their Facebook shares currently worth more than $ 45 billion to charitable purposes to make a better world for their daughters generation. This act is a mark departure from the general picture of shameless and endless greed of tycoons for more and more money.
To save the face of humanity, they have taken a leaf out of the book of Bill Gates who has already committed to give away at least 95 per cent of his wealth to charities. This should be a lesson or two for those super haves who shamelessly show off their riches by spending an astronomical sum of money in marriage ceremonies and parties. These greedy creamy layer is so myopic that they do not want to bother about the environment they are making for their children. They do not even hesitate to cut off the very branch their children are supposed to sit on.
It is time for all of us to learn from Gates and Zuckerbergs and think about the ways in which we can contribute towards ushering in a pollution free, egalitarian and tolerant world. The need of the hour is to keep up with the Zuckerbergs instead of suicidal and callous way of keeping up with the Joneses.
