HC declares Manna remand illegal

The High Court yesterday declared illegal a trial court order that had placed Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna on 7-day remand on March 18, 2015.
In response to a petition filed by Manna challenging the lower court’s order, the HC bench comprising Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khasruzzaman passed the order.
On February 24, police arrested Manna and a day after of his arrest, a Dhaka court placed him on 10-day remand to interrogate Manna in a case filed on charges of inciting military to stage a revolt.
