Sylhet Super Stars Pakistan-recruit all-rounder Shahid Afridi praised Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for organising the well-organised BPL and stated that every player should come to play BPL and enjoy the Twenty20 tournament. “I want to give the credit to BPL and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). They all have well-organised the tournament. I personally really enjoyed the tournament,” said Shahid Afridi yesterday.
“Each and every player should come to play BPL and enjoy the BPL,” Afridi told media. The skipper said that they have derailed from the group stage of the BPL for making the same mistakes repeatedly almost every games.
“I think if you see I was not with the team from the start of the competition. We lost some very close games earlier of the tournament because of few changes were not easy to make the team’s combination,” he also said.
“But I think we didn’t play according to the team’s game plan. We didn’t play good either in batting or bowling. In few games we applied our game plan. We should have to be consistent in this type of games that was important for this game. We’ve done a lot of mistakes in each game,” he added. The all-rounder said that they have devised a game plan but they could not execute their game plan in their games properly.
“I think what I said is that we didn’t play according to our plan. Our plan was very simple that don’t worry about the run-rate and the next game what will be gone happened. We just planned that we’ve to win this game. But we just lost more wickets between four-eight overs. We didn’t build partnership. And I think that’s why we lost the game,” he thought.
“Obviously the adjustment with the new faces was not easy. But being a professional, we had to adjust ourselves. And there were some talented guys amongst local guys. I enjoyed my games in dressing room as well as with them,” Afridi, who played five matches for Super Stars in this BPL, told in response to a query.
“In this format, the partnership is very important in batting and bowling as well. But you will see we didn’t bowl well in couple of games especially the last three or four overs. We gave 30-45 runs in the last overs. And in batting, if we lose a couple of wickets in the first six overs what we expect is not easy to come back in this format. There are few reasons I think if we go with the same squad we should not be repeated the same mistakes again and again. Otherwise there will be no chance.”
